BOI Fair 2011 Forestation Project to Reduce CO2 Emission in line with “Low Carbon” Concept
The project is one of BOI Fair 2011’s “green” activities to promote the fair towards the “Low Carbon” Fair. To go in line with the concept “Going Green for the Future”, all activities in BOI Fair 2011 including exhibitions, conferences and seminars, trade shows, academic and entertainment activities as well as the fair’s waste management are conducted under a mission to reduce carbon dioxide emission as much as possible to save the world.
BOI Fair 2011 is recognized to be the first ever “Low Carbon Fair” in Thailand and in Asean region. The fair encourages people to realize on CO2 emission reduction and environmental preservation through the use of alternative energy such as solar and wind power, recycled materials, green logistics, and bio-degradable plastics.
All activities towards “Low Carbon Fair” will stimulate people, both exhibitors and visitors, to concern more on low carbon activities while create a foundation to pave a way Thailand towards “Low Carbon Economy” in the future.
Initiated to be a part of “low carbon” activities, BOI Fair 2011 Forestation Project allows visitors to plant a tree model on the mock-up forest. Every tree model represents a sprout, which, after the fair, will be brought to reforest on determined areas in Chonburi province under a recommendation by the Forestry Department, and in cooperation with private sector.
During the exhibition’s 16-day period, it’s expected that the project will receive not less than 40,000 sprouts to be planted in real forests, estimating around 12,000 tons of carbon dioxide will be absorbed by the trees.
